The 2021 iMac comes equipped with an Apple M1 processor, that features 3.2 GHz. The processor features 5 nm and has eight cores: 4 of them are performance ones, and the other four are efficiency cores. The other feature of the processor seen in a 2021 iMac is a seven-core GPU. On board, it has 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. When the iMac is ordered, it is possible to upgrade both RAM and SSD. Yet, it is impossible to upgrade both later on.

The 2021 iMac also features a built-in web camera Face Time HD (1080 p), studio-quality microphones, and stereo speakers. The screen resolution of this iMac is 4480 x 2520, 218 PPI. The 2021 iMac is available with a 24-inch display only. The other screen sizes are not available for this model year.

The connectivity of the 2021 iMac includes four USB ports, and dual Type-C USB ports (Thunderbolt). Also, it employs Bluetooth 5.0, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi (a.k.a Wi-Fi 6). At the moment of purchase, it is possible to order Gigabit Ethernet (available via a port on the power brick). It cannot be added later on, as the architecture of the iMac does not support internal upgrades.
